Overture: So Much More Than Pay Per Click

Known for being the Leader in "Pay Per Click" (PPC).Owned by Yahoo, Overture advertisers reach over 80% of Internet users.

1) Precision Match is where Overture began, known as GoTo.com. The original "bid for keyword" search engine, it's still a core utility for Overture users. You are only charged for your keywords/phrases when someone clicks on your advertisement.

Overture has affiliations with Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, Infospace and others. When you bid into the top 3 postions you also get exposure and sponsorship on the search engines above. For more, see... http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/index.jhtml

2) Content Match Unlike "Precision Match," where your listing appears on search results pages, "Content Match" advertises your listings alongside product reviews, articles, etc. These listings currently appear on many of Yahoo's content areas (Finance & Shopping, Entertainment), content areas on msn (Money & Tech & Gadgets), and other online destinations.

Your listing only appears on pages relevent to your content, for example, if you have a makeup company it will appear under a cosmetics article or something similar. You can set your bids for Content Match separately from those on Precision Match, which gives you tracking results which shows the top conversion rates.

If you use "Precision Match," Content Match can be turned off or on from the control panel. For more on this, see... http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/ays_cm.jhtml

3) Local Match, in order to target customers in a certain geographic area you'll want to explore the "Local Match" option. This is great for small local companies with a specific targeted audience. This offers a minimum bid of only 10 cents per bid. You can use this service if you don't have a website, Overture will setup a landing page for users of this service called a "Locator Page," this displays a map, a link to your site and store hours. These listings will appear on CitySearch, AltaVista, Yahoo, AllTheWeb and more. For more on Local Search, see http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/lm.jhtml

4) Marketing Console will help to measure all online marketing campaigns so you always know which keywords your getting the your money's worth out of. Use this to track Pay Per Click Bids, email ads, banner ads, affiliate program and more. The Marketing Console will also provide you with how well your website is converting leads to actual sales. This requires pasting some JavaScript code onto your pages.

Depending on which package you choose, pricing starts at $149.00 a month. For more on Marketing Console, see: http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/mc.jhtml

5) Site Match, is a component of the Yahoo's Search Content Acquisition Program. When you submit to "Site Match," you'll verify your pages are reviewed and included in Yahoo, AltaVista, AllTheWeb, and others. However, your site will not be shown under "sponsored listings," instead they will appear in the main body of the search results pages. This requires paying an annual fee for the inclusion, this is $49.00 for the first URL and a cost per click for each click thru of $.15 to $.30 depending on the chosen category. View this page for more: http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/sm.jhtml

6) Conversion Counter, this is a free tracking too which tracks the number of conversions on your overture campaign. This conversion happens each time someone enters your site then performs an action, such as buying a product.

If you'd like to use the "Conversion Counter," you have to sign up for it in Overture's Control Panel, then copy some HTML code onto one page of your site (generally the sales confirmation page).

7) Merchant Solutions, Because Yahoo owns Overture, you'll find a large variety of tools for small business owners, such as:

A) Shopping Carts

B) Web Hosting and Email Accounts

C) Domain Name Registrations

For more information, see: http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ays/yms.jhtml

Overture has come a long way from offering Pay Per Click Solutions. Utilizing their variety of tools, you can increase your website exposure and give your company more sales.
